Day 5...more to come

While the mobile phone signal and wifi in Ullswater can be very patchy, updates will be posted here when we receive them so you know what adventures the children are having.

Monday 13th February - Everyone arrived safely. During the afternoon and evening the children participated in team building activities. Two of the groups braved the cold and took a dip in the lake! They also went for an adventure in the woodland. Mrs Whiteley's group took an evening walk to a waterfall and reported that the sky was beautiful.

Tuesday 14th February - The three groups all enjoyed a full English breakfast this morning before going their separate ways. The children were out and about for around 5-6 hours enjoying some amazing weather - sunny and calm. While some children were enjoying the views climbing a mountain, others were gorge walking up a waterfall, re-fuelling with a delicious packed lunch. Everyone then re-grouped and feasted on an evening meal, choosing from BBQ chicken pizza, chilli and rice, vegetarian lasagne or chicken and pasts. A hot chocolate before bed will hopefully ensure a good night's sleep ahead of another fun filled day tomorrow!

Wednesday 15th February - It's been another exciting and tiring day today, with groups rotating round the activities that they have not completed so far. Mrs Whiteley has tried sending photographs but they are currently somewhere in the ether between the Lake District and Barnsley! Everyone has now gone to bed with canoeing and a camp fire tomorrow night amongst Thursday's highlights.

Thursday 16th February - The final full day is over and the children were certainly ready for bed tonight. Unfortunately, the weather that has been largely good all week was not so kind to the group climbing the mountain today. They got caught in a rain shower. Another group made the choice to get wet, going for a dip in the lake! Perhaps the biggest challenge of the week was faced this evening, when the children had to pack all their belongings back into their bags. Not the easiest of tasks! The day concluded with a camp fire and the children (and staff) enjoyed toasting marshmallows.
